Balcony and patio

You should also take care of your balcony.

Balcony and patio

A balcony or a patio provide more space for living, as long as you remember to take care of a few things.

Balcony glazing

The balcony glazing should be fastened carefully so that the wind does not break them.

Keep your balcony glazing closed in the winter. By doing so, you will reduce heating consumption and prevent snow and water from damaging the balcony. If there is ice in the glazing system, carefully open the glazing to avoid damage.

In the summer, it is good to keep the balcony glazing open to avoid the balcony heating up in the sun.

Electricity

Do not draw power cords to the balcony from an unearthed indoor power outlet.

Interior decoration

Flower boxes and other items must be placed inside the railing. Hanging them on the outside will pose a danger. Do not make an open fire on the balcony. Do not leave lit candles unattended.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean the balcony regularly.

Keep the drainage channels open. This will prevent water damage to the balcony structures.

Remove snow, leaves and other litter from the balcony floor regularly. Do not throw snow or litter from the balcony down to the yard; instead, take the waste to the bins and run melted snow down the drain or carry the snow outside to the yard if it is possible.

The surfaces and cover strips of the balcony glazing should be cleaned with water and neutral cleaning agents.
